Harvest Hills students learn French
Speaking French   Each week, students in Marvin Lee’s class at Harvest Hills Elementary School spend a few minutes learning how to speak French. Their teacher for this area of study is not Mr. Lee, but rather a group of French elementary students in a classroom almost 5,000 miles away in Rochefort-sur-Mer, France. Students in the two classrooms converse and collaborate through Skype, software that allows them to connect through free voice and video calls over the Internet. In the photo above, French students can be seen on the screen in the background.

“Ms. Kuper from Apollo Elementary was my favorite elementary teacher. She made learning fun. She really cared about all her students. She was like a school ‘mom.’ She gave all her time to help us get better with our academics and be the best we can be.”

“My favorite teacher would have to be Ms. Melton from Coronado Heights Elementary. She was just so entertaining! She made up math songs for things like division and multiplication. I still sing them today. She was always in the best mood and gave the most heartwarming hugs. She put everyone in a great frame of mind.”
—Jordan, Putnam City High School

“Ms. Hendrix at Cooper Middle School was the best teacher I ever had. She was the greatest at finding what your work habits are. She knew how to push you to do better and try harder. Even so, she never rushed you. She always had a smile and let you know she was glad to be there for you.”

“My favorite elementary teacher was Ms. Holland at Western Oaks Elementary School. She continually challenged me to use my gifts to my advantage and to grow as a student and person. Her lessons were fun and interactive. I could come to her with any problem or question, and she was quick to understand. I looked up to her throughout my elementary years and still admire her today."

AbbyMy Favorite Elementary Teacher
“My all-time favorite teacher is Ms. Downing, my 5th-grade teacher from Coronado Heights Elementary. I loved being in the little plays we put on for the other 5th-grade classes. She was like a grandma to me and I loved her very much. I still keep in contact with her and wish I could repay her for being the greatest teacher I’ve ever had.”
—Abby, Putnam City High School

MollyMy Favorite Elementary Teacher
“The most inspiring teacher to me is Ms. Lisa Litchenburg at Central Intermediate School, now Arbor Grove Elementary. Ms. Litchenburg’s attitude toward kids and the school itself was amazing. The thing I remember the most was math and doing multiplication factors. You could ask me any factor between one and 15 and I could tell you in less than a second! Her teaching was meaningful to me and to this day I still go see her. I’m a senior in high school and I love her so much. She is inspirational and loving!”

“My all-time favorite teacher is Ms Jones, my 4th-grade teacher from Coronado Heights Elementary. She always kept me interested in class, which was very hard to do at the time. She’s the best teacher ever, and I miss being in her class.”
